What is an IRC Bouncer?
An IRC bouncer (BNC) is a server-side program that stays connected to IRC for you around the clock. Instead of connecting straight to the IRC network, you connect to the bouncer, and it relays the traffic between you and the network.
Because the bouncer is always online, you keep your nick, your session and your place in every channel even when your own client is closed or your connection drops. While you are away it can record what happens and play it back when you reconnect, so you never miss messages. It also lets you appear from a stable host (vhost) instead of your own IP address.
